What Browser should I use?

In order to be assured that your transactions are secure, use a browser capable of supporting 128 encryption. If you are currently using Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser of 6.0 or higher or Netscape Navigator version of 6.01 and higher, you will automatically enable 128 encryption. If you are using any Microsoft or Netscape browser that is less than the recommended 5.0 for Microsoft Windows, 5.0 for Microsoft Mac or 4.08 for Netscape Navigator, you should upgrade to these versions before using either On-line banking or CheckFree Web BillPay.

How can I find out my browser’s version?

Go to the Main Menu at the top of your browser and click "Help." Then click "About your Browser Name". You will see the version in the text that appears on the "About" screen. Or go to http://verisign.com/advisor/check.html.

What is the best display setting for nVantage Banking?

For best viewing, we recommend a display setting of 800x600 pixels or higher. You can check your display setting by clicking on "My Computer" on the opening screen of your computer.

How secure is nVantage Banking?

Norwood Bank has installed a dedicated server for on-line banking and a firewall which act as a barrier between the Internet and Norwood Bank’s internal systems. All incoming information is routed through the firewall which verifies the source and destination of all information which is modified in a special way to permit access. This system also records all activity including sign on, sign-off and any unsuccessful access attempts. This system is further monitored 24 hours a day so that any suspicious activity may be immediately identified. There are a number of other steps that have been taken to ensure the security of this data and your transactions including 24 hour surveillance, real time reporting, automatic shutting down of your session if there is no activity for a set period of time and encryption.

What is Encryption?

All information that is transmitted to us or from us is encrypted. This means that your information is scrambled while it is on the Internet so that it can be kept private and accessible only to you and to Norwood Bank. This is why we recommend you use the latest version of your Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and make certain that your encryption is at 128 or higher.

What can I do to increase my security?

You can provide additional security for nVantage Banking transactions. Here are some steps to consider:

  • Always utilize the latest version of your browser, either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. If you are uncertain of the version you are using, go to "Help" on the menu bar and check, then go to the sites listed on our nVantage Banking Main Menu Page.
  • Do not disclose either your Online Banking or CheckFree Access ID or PIN to anyone and do not write them down where they may be easily found.
  • Change your Password frequently. This is easy to do.
  • Do not leave your computer unattended after you have signed on. If you are going to have to leave your computer, be certain to log off of online banking. Bill payment users must log off CheckFree.
  • Log Off of nVantage Banking when you finish your banking.
